Spring has Arrived!
With the arrival of sunshine and warm weather, lawn and landscapes are waking up from their winter dormancy. These past few years, with the advancement of technology and the growth of the irrigation industry, there have been many new products and services that have been developed to improve watering and efficiency. A few of these items include the following:
- Smart Irrigation controllers
- Rain sensors
- Drip irrigation
- Micro irrigation
- Fertigation
- Pressure compensating sprinkler heads
- Swing pipe
- Remote closing main valves
- Water management
- Summer inspections
I will be authoring articles for each one of these products/services in the coming weeks and posting them in the blog section of my website. You may also learn more by visiting www.rainrich.com.
Currently, we are activating irrigations systems for the season. We call it the Spring Start Up and we encourage you to have this important service scheduled now before the weather turns warm and you need water. When we turn your system on, we are looking to make sure that all the components are performing properly and repair/ replace items that are broken or not working. This includes the following general checklist for each property we service:
- Turn water on slowly at main sprinkler valve. Check for leaks in plumbing.
- Check for leaks in manifold.
- Check for leaks in solenoid valves.
- Check wiring connections at solenoid valves.
- Open solenoid valves, one at a time, fill zone and check zone piping for leaks.
- Check each sprinkler head for leaks, rotation, and clogged nozzles.
- Clean all dirt and debris from sprinkler heads.
- Clean all dirt and debris from sprinkler heads.
- Check the program on the controller and adjust. Leave controller in “off” position.
- Visually inspect rain sensor.
- Inform client of repairs/replacements.
- Make recommendations.
Each property is different and there may be additional items to check when we arrive. The Spring Turn On is to check and have the system functioning properly. As landscapes mature and grow the coverage may need to be improved by adding sprinklers or moving them. This is better addressed after Memorial Day when all the plants have leafed out and are growing.
At this time, I recommend you call our office at 631-423-221 to arrange your appointment, or email us at mnava@rainrich.com, or visit our website at www.rainrich.com and fill out the contact form. We look forward to serving you!
