Soil pH Test
To have a successful garden on your Long Island home and create the best growing environment for your plants, test your soil pH and amend it if necessary.
Plants need soil nutrients in order to grow and thrive. Testing your soil pH is vital to your garden’s success because it influences how easily plants can take up nutrients from the soil.
What is a Soil Test?
A soil test is a process by which elements are chemically removed from the soil and measured to determine whether your soil is neutral, alkaline or acidic. In simple terms, soil pH is the measure of lime in your soil. The more lime it has, the more alkaline it is. The less lime it has, as in the case of very sandy soil, the more acidic it will be.
Once you have the results you can adjust the soil to the appropriate pH level for what you want to grow.
